Privacy Policy.
RockPaw Design (“RockPaw”, “we”, “us” or “our”) is a trading name of Craig McQueenie, a sole trader providing strategy, brand and digital consultancy services. This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website (rockpawdesign.com), how we use it, and the rights you have over it.
1. The data protection law that applies to us
RockPaw Design is based in Northern Ireland and processes personal information in accordance with applicable UK data protection legislation, including the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018, and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).
We work with clients and enquirers across the UK and Ireland. Where our activities involve individuals or organisations within the European Economic Area, including the Republic of Ireland, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (EU GDPR) and applicable local data protection legislation may also apply.
2. The information we collect
This website is deliberately simple. It does not use a content management system, does not require you to create an account, and does not run any advertising, analytics or tracking scripts. The only personal information we collect is what you choose to send us:
- Enquiries. Our “Start a Project” form asks for your name, organisation, email address and a description of what you’d like help with, plus an optional website address and project type. Submitting this form opens your own email application with a message already addressed to us — it does not send your details to our website or any server. The email is transmitted directly from your device to our inbox at craig@rockpawdesign.com, in the same way as any other email you send.
- Direct contact. If you email, message or call us directly, we’ll hold whatever information you choose to share with us in that correspondence.
- Standard technical logs. Our hosting provider may automatically record basic technical information for any visit to this website — such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested — as a standard, security-related function of operating a web server. We do not use this information to identify individual visitors or to build a profile of your browsing activity.
3. Cookies and similar technologies
This website does not use cookies, pixels or similar tracking technologies to monitor your activity on this site or across other websites, and we do not currently run any analytics, advertising or social media tracking on it. If that changes in future, we will update this policy and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent first.
4. Why we use your information
We rely on the following lawful bases to process personal information:
- Legitimate interests — to respond to your enquiry, discuss a potential project, and keep our website secure and working properly. We’ve considered that this processing is proportionate and wouldn’t reasonably be seen as intrusive, given it only happens because you’ve chosen to contact us.
- Steps towards a contract, or performance of a contract — where an enquiry leads to a proposal, quotation or engagement for our services.
- Legal obligation — where we need to keep records for accounting, tax or other legal requirements.
5. Marketing
RockPaw Design does not operate a mailing list, does not add enquirers to any marketing or CRM automation, and does not send unsolicited marketing emails. If we ever introduce email marketing, we will only do so in line with PECR — meaning we’ll ask for your consent first, and give you a straightforward way to opt out at any time.
6. Sharing your information
We don’t sell or rent your personal information, and we don’t share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes. The limited circumstances in which your information may be seen by someone other than us are:
- Our hosting and email provider, Big Wet Fish — a UK-based company that hosts this website and provides the mail server through which enquiry emails are delivered to us. They process this information on our behalf, under their own hosting and security arrangements.
- Where we’re required to disclose information by law, by a court, or to a regulator or law enforcement body.
- Where necessary to establish, exercise or defend our legal rights.
7. Where your information is processed
This website and our email are hosted on UK-based servers provided by Big Wet Fish. Because email is transmitted over the internet, a message you send us may pass through infrastructure operated by your own email provider before it reaches us — that transmission is outside our control. We do not otherwise transfer your personal information outside the UK.
8. How long we keep your information
We keep enquiry correspondence for as long as reasonably necessary to respond to it, pursue any resulting project, and meet our accounting and legal record-keeping obligations. Where an enquiry doesn’t lead to an ongoing relationship, we aim to delete it within a reasonable period, and in any event no longer than two years, unless we’re required to keep it for longer.
9. Your rights
Under UK and EU GDPR, you have the right to:
- Ask us what personal information we hold about you, and get a copy of it.
- Ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
- Ask us to delete your personal information, in certain circumstances.
- Ask us to restrict how we use your personal information, in certain circumstances.
- Object to our processing of your personal information, in certain circumstances.
- Ask us to provide your information in a portable format, where technically feasible.
- Withdraw consent, where processing is based on consent.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below. We’ll respond within one month.
10. Children
This website is intended for businesses and professionals, and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time — for example, if we change how the website works or what we use it for. Any changes will be posted on this page with a revised “last updated” date.
12. How to complain
If you have concerns about how we’ve handled your personal information, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it. You also have the right to complain to a supervisory authority:
- UK — the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), ico.org.uk, telephone 0303 123 1113.
- Ireland/EEA — the Data Protection Commission (DPC), dataprotection.ie, or your own local supervisory authority.
13. Governing law
This Privacy Policy and any matters arising from it are governed by the laws of Northern Ireland. Where mandatory data protection legislation in another jurisdiction applies to the processing of your personal information, your rights under that legislation are not affected.
